Many people shy away from using a professional photographer for dating photos because they don’t want a professional airbrush look that may mislead their potential matches.
A good photographer will be able to capture you in a candid manner, while still representing the best version of you. Usually, post processing techniques are subtle and still ensure a few ‘imperfections’ remain in the photo, to ensure your matches don’t become too suspicious!

Where Do Sessions Take Place?
When it comes to dating profile photos, I try to capture them in a natural and candid environment- almost as though a friend could have taken them with their phone. I generally like to incorporate dating photos into an activity rather than using a more posed approach that I would use for other areas of photography.
Restaurant or Cafe
A restaurant or cafe is great place for dating photos.
One of the reasons for this is that your potential matches are able to visualise themselves in that photo, engaging their imagination of what dating you could be like.
Restaurants are full of great props which can serve as ‘distractions’, such as food and drinks. This can create a more relaxed and authentic photo, especially if you’re not used to being in front of a camera.
Beach or Park
Melbourne boasts some beautiful natural backdrops for photography.
Outdoor photography is great for creating flattering lighting, highlighting your best features.
Images that are bright and colourful tend to catch the attention of potential swipers. Utilising luscious greenery of a park or bright blue waters of a beach can have a powerful effect on your dating profile’s performance.
Capturing a Hobby
When it comes to successful dating profiles, it’s important that your photos capture who you are as a person.
Embedding your hobbies and interests into your dating profile photos create a much more intriguing image than a posed photo. You want to engage your potential matches by showing what makes you unique.
If you’re not experienced with being in front of a camera, hobbies are a great way to distract yourself, creating a much more relaxed version of you in the photograph.

Yes! A 50% deposit is required for all dating photography sessions to ensure commitment from both parties
The cancellation policy will depend on the specific circumstances of your photoshoot.
For most photoshoots, I require 36 hours notice to receive a full refund or credit towards another date.
If an outdoor shoot needs to be cancelled due to poor weather conditions or any circumstances outside of your control, your deposit will be credited towards another date.
After the session, you will receive a link to Google Drive within 36 hours to review your photos. There, you can select your favourite images for further high-end retouching.
I live in the Surf Coast region which is home to some of the most stunning beaches and natural environments. These can serve as a great option for your dating profile shoot. I also travel to Melbourne region for dating profile photoshoots.
