Melbourne Glamour Photographer
What’s the difference between boudoir and glamour photography?
Boudoir photography is usually photographed in a more candid and softer style than glamour photography. It focuses on the natural beauty of a woman and bringing out confidence and sensuality through art. I would usually employ a more subtle processing style, aiming to bring out your beauty rather than hide imperfections.
Glamour photography on the other hand, is a magazine worthy style of photography. Glamour photography is usually a bit more posed than boudoir, and often utilises more photoshopping techniques to produce a more polished final product. Glamour photography uses more dramatic light techniques using flash photography, whereas boudoir usually employs softer, natural light.

What Do I Wear For My Glamour Shoot?
Choosing outfits for your glamour photoshoot can be the most daunting step of the process.
The first thing to consider when choosing an outfit is to consider the theme of your photoshoot. Pinterest is a great tool for gathering images to create a mood board for your photoshoot. Start with typing in search terms like ‘glamour photoshoot’ and look for images that you like. You can then narrow down your search terms further based on these images to come up with a concept for your shoot.
Pay close attention to the style of outfits the women are wearing, as well as any accessories they use like jewellery.
The idea of glamour photography is to wear whatever makes you feel confident- whether that’s wearing a simple black dress or a sexy swimsuit!
Where Can I Buy Outfits?
A glamour photoshoot is a good excuse to treat yourself to a few new outfits! Depending on your budget and the outfit style you’re looking for, there are plenty of retail options out there.
Shein is a great place to start for those looking to buy a variety of fun outfits on a budget. Their stylistic options are huge, and while their quality isn’t always the best- for a single use photoshoot, it’s perfectly acceptable. As they are an online retailer with quality being ‘hit and miss’, ensure you make your purchases well in advance before your photoshoot in case you need to exchange sizes. I’ve personally used Shein a lot, and you can find some real hidden gems.
For those seeking something on the higher end side, perhaps an outfit that will last more than a few uses (sorry Shein), I’d recommend David Jones. They both have a great range of higher quality outfits such as dresses, blazers and heel for a to suit any budget- from affordable to high end designer.
